Attn: Noles in Michigan - FSU vs. OU Update

Noles,

I hope you're all well.

Bailey's in Troy, MI is once again offering to host us during our games this season. They have been very hospitable in the past with a VIP area and some appetizers and drink specials.

They will have the game this Saturday against Samford at 12pm. I won't be able to attend this game, but feel free to go and let them know you're with us.

We are targeting the following weekend (Sept. 11th at 3:30pm) against The Oklahoma Sooners as our official Alumni Kickoff event. Tom Block and the FSU Alumni Assoc. has offered to email out to our entire database here in Southeast Michigan and invite everyone to this game. So I expect to have a big crowd. Please make sure to attend and show your support!

See you then and GO NOLES!

Any Michigan Seminoles looking for jobs?

Here's a note i received from the career center at fsu:

Greetings Seminole Club Members,

I am the Career Center’s liaison to the Alumni Association, and I am increasing our efforts to collaborate with and serve our alumni. We’re here to serve you if you are a job seeker and if you are an employer searching for other Seminoles as potential hires. Please pass the following information on to your membership.

We help alumni with their job search – for FREE… forever! While many universities charge alumni, please remind your members that we offer our services for free. We give alumni access to SeminoleLink, our online job posting system (and much more). If you’re in town, we offer advising and complete access to any events and employer information sessions. We also realize that most alumni are not located in Tallahassee – so we’re trying to improve our online resources to better meet your needs! http://www.career.fsu.edu/seminolelink/index.html for SeminoleLink & http://www.career.fsu.edu/library/links.html for additional online resources.
If you’re an alum searching for new talent, why don’t you hire a nole? We have a full range of services for our employer partners and free job postings at FSU. http://www.career.fsu.edu/seminolelink/index.html
Network! Professional Network is a program created to bring together alumni and students. Please encourage your members to sign up as volunteers today so they can share experiences and career related information with current students. http://www.career.fsu.edu/connect/join.html

Please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions! We were able to present a career seminar to some area clubs this past spring and would like to possibly offer virtual presentations on specific topics if your club is interested!

Thank you for your time-

Kind regards,

Lindsey

Ranked #15 and counting!!!

FSU raised their win total to 6 and their ranking to #15 in the BCS. Although they seem to enjoy spotting the opponent a few points before taking over, FSU is looking more and more like the Noles of old. It's great to see.

Come out and support the Noles against georgia tech this Saturday at 3:30pm at BlackFinn in Royal Oak.

Please RSVP so I can tell them how many we have coming.

The 2009-2010 Florida State University Service Scholar Program applications are now available online at the Center for Leadership and Civic Education website (www.thecenter.fsu.edu). They are also available in print format on campus at The Center, and I have attached an electronic copy to this email.

An important part of continuing the Service Scholars Program’s proven value in creating student leaders and models of exemplary service is recruiting incoming Scholar classes. The Center for Leadership and Civic Education is making tremendous efforts to promote this opportunity to all incoming freshmen, but we need your help!

If you are interested in helping promote the Service Scholars Program and encouraging incoming freshmen to apply, please share the following information with other alumni, community contacts, and high schools in your area, or email me with the name of your contact(s), their title, the school name/student name, and complete mailing address, and I will gladly get in touch with them.

__________________________

The Service Scholar Program is a unique scholarship program that is designed to recognize students with an outstanding record of service and leadership and to promote civic responsibility as an integral part of a liberal arts education at Florida State University. Admission to the Program is reserved for freshmen who have demonstrated excellence in service and leadership in planning and promoting service among their peers. As a member of the program, Service Scholars follow their own path of individual community service, participate in group projects with fellow Scholars, attend regular social and educational sessions, and learn leadership and advocacy skills.

Selection to the Service Scholar Program is highly competitive. Service Scholars are awarded a four-year renewable scholarship in the amount of $2,400 annually. For more information about benefits, the application process, and program requirements, please visit the Center for Leadership and Civic Education online at www.thecenter.fsu.edu. Do not delay! Apply now! The completed application must be postmarked by January 16, 2009 to be considered for this unique program.

__________________________

On behalf of The Center for Leadership and Civic Education, I hope, with your help, that many more incoming freshmen will know about this amazing program at FSU. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.

Thanks for your help! Go ‘Noles!

In case you are traveling to the Miami game...

Here's a flyer sent out by the FSU Alumni President:

Two in a row!

The Noles put up another impressive victory this past Saturday against Chattanooga. The problem is...it was Chattanooga. This weekend, we will see if the Noles are for real or are just rebuilding.

The Noles play #18 Wake Forest at 7pm next Saturday night. Unfortunately, I will miss the game as I will be at a wedding. But hey, that's what smart phones are for. Please let me know if you want to see the game at Blackfinn and I will let them know how many to expect. I spoke with the manager on Saturday and he said he would accommodate us for every game as long as we kept him in the loop on how many are coming. So please RSVP as early as you can.

thanks and GO NOLES!

FSU vs. Western Carolina

Although BlackFinn has the FSU game listed on their tv schedule, I just don't have confidence that the game will be available. From everything I'm reading, it will be on Pay-per-view only and bars usually won't buy certain games like that. So, I'd rather not schedule everyone to come out without full confidence that we will have a game to watch. Stay tuned and we will get together for the first "official" televised FSU game.

Go NOLES and Good luck this weekend!

best,

Corey

This site will serve as our alumni page to announce when and where we can watch out beloved Seminoles regain the glory of our proud football program. I'm currently in conversation with the new Royal Oak bar, BlackFinn, as a potential home to Seminole football. Please check back periodically for updates.
